True. But when so many opinions differ (as they have on the various lists I've been on), I'm getting less sure of things. > i have used allot of quantum >scsi drives, for scsi they are definitely one of the best, I agree. Two of my Quantum drives were workhorses that never gave me a problem. >>IBM (2 drives) - fast, fairly quiet but not always reliable >>(the 30MB GXP75 UATA was a horror story with my 7300 w/Tempo card - > >that may be the one model they had problems with. can >someone who knows remind us which model of ibm was a lemon? >otherwise they are great, and at least reasonably quiet. Don't know about that. They met with rave reviews from various sources. Well, they were www.macoteket.se, a large and Mac-only reseller with a somewhat quirky attitude. I looked up the model on Fujitsu's site that didn't make me any more wise, but I thought the fact I connected through a Tempo ATA card was a major factor in the reseller's advicing. >i've used a couple of fujitsu's and they were good, and i >think quiet (not usually one of my considerations, i usually >have other things like the tv making noise when i surf or >frequently other drives running besides an air purifier >(actually one more quit than most so it's not too bad) and >often a fan to cool me. Well, I bought a Cube just to be sure no fan noise disturbed me. The only sound thing in the room would be my stereo (which isn't always on). No air purifier, no need for any ventilation fan and no traffic outside my window. Together with the quiet Maxtor drive this makes (IMHO) for a nice experience. >-- Philip Stortz, mad scientist at large. --Every 13 seconds >an American gun owner uses a firearm in defense against a >criminal. gun ownership deters crime, it doesn't increase >it. gun control increases crime and cost lives. ><http://www.pulpless.com/gunclock/framedex.html> Best of wishes /Per (who thinks it's for sure better to send all your guns to the Americans - i.e. thousands of miles away and at a safe distance ;-) ...) _______________________________________________________ Per A J Andersson, Gteborg, Sweden - [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
