IBM's 75GXP was a loser, perhaps IBM's only bad drive in years, while IBM's 60GXP was a real winner. IBM's 120GXP appears to be a winner, too.
I've got several IBM 60GXPs (the 60 GB versions) and several Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 60 (the 60 GB versions) and both are very fine drives ... both directly-connected to a Mac's internal EIDE bus (in Beige G3s) and connected through UATA/66 cards (in Beige G3s and in earlier PCI Macs, some upgraded to G3/400s, others with 604e/200s or 604ev/300s).
