Well, aint gonna buy Seagate any more. My 6 month old SCSI 4gig Barracuda (which was about as thick as 2 regular sized hds) went kablooie on me. It just kept wanting to start up, click a few times, then nothing. I re-formatted the thing about 3 times and only once was it successful in re-formatting. The other Seagate (2gig) that's in my 7300 is starting to act up as well; they also have a problem waking up. Haven't had any trouble so far with my Quantums (6gig and 30 gig -- knock on wood) and actually my 40gig WD has been going along w/o a hitch (so far --- knock on wood again). I bought an ACard ATA-133 IDE controller for my 7300 and judging by what the majority are saying I'm guessing I should be looking into getting a Quantum/Maxtor drive or IBM. Too bad cause the WDs are getting cheaper -- gee I wonder why?
