Looks like everyone missed this the last time we had a thread on this but Quantam Maxtors are CLEARLY marked on the side of the box. They say Quantam on them, the regular ones just say Diamondmax. If Best Buys drives are marked as such, Im pretty sure every other store in the world also has the marked ones. All you have to do is read before you buy. Maxtor isnt trying to trick anyone. Its the white sticker on the side of the box with all the specs on it.
My .02 on the drive thread.. I have used two Seagate drives, a 3.2 that came with my first Pentium 233, and now the 40GB Barracuda in my new G4 800, and a Quantam that came with my G3/350. Everything else I have ever used have been Maxtors. I havent had a single Maxtor fail on me. My oldest one is about 3 years old now (it was a brand new ATA66 drive if you can remember when those came out hehe) and still up and running as the new system drive in the G3 (now if I could only find what I did with the 6GB Quantam that came with it hehehe).. > > I *mostly* agree.
