from what i've heard, sony was so arrogant about their quality and so greedy they weren't even testing tv's before they went out, the modules had been tested so they just assumed the finished equipment was good, which it often wasn't of course. i've worked on sony gear, other than their commercial stuff (which is always better) it's not that impressive, and their commercial stuff isn't any more impressive than anyone else's. the only thing that was unique about sony was when they were the only ones using trinitron crt's, everyone's using them now. bottom line, marketing hype doesn't mean a thing, as microsoft proves everyday, but there are always some who will fall for it.
