Hi Anne.

I use Dreamweaver every day in Classic on 10.1.5. It runs just fine on
my G4/500 TiBook. Before the Ti, I had a Lombard (G3/333 I think) and,
while it was a little slow in Classic, it ran just fine.

10.1.5 is quite compatible with older apps. Earlier versions of 10.1
weren't as good -- I use 4D Client for much of my work, and it had
problems up until 10.1.2/10.1.3 or so.

I also use Office X, which totally rocks.

Consider the Public Library as a collection of books you can check out
to read. A library on a Unix system is a collection of C/C++ (possibly
other languages too) functions that can be, ah, "read" by a running
program. The end result is that many apps can use the same library, so
that the code does not exist in many places on the system. This aides
in maintenance (only one thing to replace) and also in file size (the
code only exists one place).

As for backing up the system, I personally only back up my user data and
any applications or patches that I download. If anything happens to my
system, I will rebuild it from the CDs (reinstalling everything) then
reload my user data.

It'll be well worth it - believe me. :)
