>>> i yust wonder what the different mac users prefer. Mac OS 9 or Mac OS >>> X? and why?
OK, here's my take. I bit the bullet and booted into X May 1st on my QuickSilver PowerMac 733 with 640megs of ram. On the down side: X on my Mac has been very sluggish. It takes a second or two to change windows. It takes even longer to switch between running apps. I type a sentence and it takes the screen a second or two to catch up. I used to rip CD's in iTunes at 9x and now it's less than 4x. I spent a lot of money upgrading programs to run in X. I really miss SpellCatcher (in beta), FinderPop, and especially my macro program, OneClick. On the plus side: I love LaunchBar, Watson, and iPhoto. No system crashes. The bottom line is that I probably could have waited a few months longer before I upgraded. Probably Jaguar will offer comparable speed and more features. Also, by then there should be more software to make up for the ones I lose. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
