I can't say I was *that* bored, unfortunately... There were a few
frustrating moments, but going back to (dare i say it) The Manual and
the Apple knowledge center and a few tedious hours of checking things
out -- and investing in a second drive to boot OS 9 from -- solved
the problem (running dual 500 G4). And I never had to use Unix at
all. The most frustrating part was finding answers that fit my
problem only obliquely, and having to refer to as many user groups as
I could find (a blessing to find that so many exist!) There were a
couple of weeks I was ready to bag it and go back to 9.2 which had
been working nicely (although ocassionally crashing)... Since
putting in the second drive for 9.2 about a month ago it has been
chugging along happily without a problem. Nick, I encourage you not
to give up, once you get OS X going I think you will be *very* happy
with it. Good luck!
