Based on what I've read from this and other list that have something to do with OS X, most problems seem to occur because of: - Changing permissions without knowing quite what one is doing. - Generally mucking around with UNIX commands without knowing quite what one is doing. - Adding share/freeware programs that alter the some system function. Many of them work fine but you are taking a chance.
Maybe I've just been lucky but besides installing programs and updates, I leave the computer system alone and just use it to do what I need to do. Even Microsoft products haven't given me trouble.
