I am contacting you guys and gals to see if any of you have had a
problematic G4 Quicksilver. I have recently had a problem with mine
that neither myself, nor Apple (Elk Grove Repair) can figure out. My
867 runs great most of the time. Sometimes I get video slowdowns and
other problems.

If I reboot I sometimes (1 out of 4 times) get a long whining tone that
sounds exactly ike an APC-500 BackUPS alarm, but there is none connected
to this machine. During some of these reboots I get a "grey screen
hang" and the system is non-responsive. Other times it comes up fine
and all is well.

This is a G4-867 with 128mb of Ram and a 60gb HD. I have tried this in
several configurations including stock Apple Hardware. This system used
to have 1.5gb of Ram and 2 80gb HD's. I upgraded the Video card froem
the nVidia GeForce 2MX to the 4MX, and have tried clean OS installs and
switching back to stock hardware several times. I was running several
operating systems, but am using 9.2.2 for testing purposes.
I have done a firmware and NVRAM reset. I have also done a CUDA reset.
Nothing seems to work.

Anyone else experiencing anything like this with your quicksilver?
