Well, now that I argued for upgrading a Beige G3, now here's a problem: I have a CDRW/DVD in it and a Radeon 7000 PCI card. Apple won't let me install any the DVD player for OSX in my G3 system. Neither will the classic player under OS9 install. Both say that my machine can't play DVD's so it won't install.
I have downloaded MPlayer, and it doesn't seem to recognize DVD's in my system, at least, I can't figure out how to play them. VideoLAN is a player that works, but when I played The Score in it, it got all the way to the end and then skipped off to the trailers, so that I had to restart the program and drag it forward to the end. I had to do that about 12 times to see the end. Then I got The Musketeer, and the program would just quit about every 15 minutes until the last 30 minutes of the movie, then it would quit about every 3-5 minutes. Nothing else happened, all other programs and the finder were untouched, and all I had to do was restart the VLC program and drag it forward to where it let off. It turned a 2 hour movie into a 2 hr 40 min movie tho, and generally was irritating. Anyone have any other suggestions for viewing DVD's on this machine? -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
