There's something weird going on. This has been discussed on the Apple user list. Even on my TiBook, I see it. You can actually hear the hard disk doing "something". Even when viewing processes, nothing seems like it is "eating up" the CPU, but you hear the disk thrashing about doing something for as long as 4 or 5 minutes after the desktop and login items have launched. During this time, launches etc... can be slow. Yes, OS X DOES seem to get "faster" as time goes by. Possibly because of caching the program data and other things. There was also another thread about how long it took to get the help up, only slower G3 Wallstreet it was way faster than my TiBook - consistently. The TiBook was all over the place. Sometimes a short time, other times a very long time.
