Sometimes when I shut down or restart my upgraded beige G3 to G4/500 with X.1.5, it has what I assume is a kernel panic ending with the message that it is waiting for the external debugger connection; then it asks if I want to continue or reboot. If I reboot, and try to shut down again, I get the same message a couple of times and then it is normal. If I give it the vulcan death grip, it will reboot as if nothing happened and usually next shut down is normal.
