Hi Listers, Well I finally saved my pennies and bought a Radeon 7000
card. The main reason I got it was to watch DVD movies on my computer,
not really interested in gaming. It says on the box that it supports DVD
playback, however whenever I try to open Apple DVD Player I get the
window that 'Apple DVD Player cannot open because the required hardware
was not found'. The player is a Matshita DVD ROM and was listed as an
Apple player, it plays CDs fine. My setup : G3-333, 512MB RAM, OS 9.1,
has a Rage Pro chip soldered on the MB, 32 MB video RAM on the Radeon
card . Apple System Profiler says there are 4 PCI slots tho I know there
are only three, they are listed as A1-SCSI card, B1-Display card (the
7000), C1- USB card and F1- display card (I have no idea about that
one). Also what is the perch slot, it seems to have an audio card in it,
at least that's where the audio in and out are. I have saved all
previous messages dealing with this problem from the list and tried
everything that was suggested.
Will this card allow me to play DVDs or shall I take it back, the ATI
tech wasn't too helpful and neither was their site. Anyone have any
ideas at all, any information would be greatly appreciated.
TIA, Bob Chell
