Well Vic is right except that not everyone with a B&W G3 Rev.1 suffers
from this problem.

A few years ago I replaced the stock 6 gig in my B&W G3 350 Rev.1 for a
Diamond Maxtor Plus 30 GB, and it worked perfectly as the master. Lately
when this HD died I got a 40GB replacement from Maxtor (it's actually a
Quantum UATA133) and it still works fine (even used the stock 6 GB as a
slave (when it mounted that is))

Never had any data corruption, and have four partitions made by Apple
Drive Setup, I have OS 9.2.2 on one partition, OS X 10.1.5 on another
(soon to be 10.2.2) etc etc.

So why does it work on one B&W G3 Rev.1 and doesn't on another is real
question to me?

If you want speed, yes buy one.
