Yeah, I ended up just removing the whole CD bezel for the time being, I should get in there and do the surgery. Are you using this with OSX? I've a persistent problem with mine (the 42-12-42 model, V.06 ROM) where I'll mount the blank disk in the Finder, and when I drag it to the burn icon, it will go off to an endlessly spinning beachball. I have to power down the computer to get back to the finder...It's not all the time, though... I'm thinking, now, that it's a problem with the drive, since I've put it in my G3 Mac on the onboard IDE controller.
