As stated elsewhere, I think they should and thought they did offer a
trade in, but could find no evidence of it on their site, today. You
could try writing them to ask. The ATI deal wasn't bad -- about $50
lower than street price on the 7000 -- though I didn't take them up on
it. I suppose it depends on what you use your SCSI card for. On my OS X
machine, that's exclusively external, narrow devices. A 2930 from eBay
for $25 was perfect. For the ultra 2 wide hard drive in my aged AV Mac,
I couldn't beat the ATTO I got from OWC for $29. So, for me, even a
good trade in deal wouldn't have been the best choice.

I understand the anger over the support for a card that was expensive
and high end not that long ago. As far as I can tell, though, it works
well in the single-tasking world of OS 9, and earlier. If you can't get
a decent offer from Adaptec, I'd suggest you sell it to someone who
never plans to move to OS X and find a good deal on an alternative
brand. If I'd had your experience with them I know Adaptec would be on
my 'do not buy' list.
