I've got a Western Digital 100 gig 7200 RPM that couldn't be better.  It's
not the 20 gig you're considering, but mine is quiet, reliable and was
absolutely no problem what-so-ever to get up and running. Oh yea, and fast
fast fast compared to the pokey ol' thing originally in my G3 desktop. I
don't regret a thing about it.  That's my 2 cents.
