I would have to agree with Mark. I have 3 Different Western Digital drives
on three different Mac's. They are all 7200rpm drives.  They all work great
and are quiet.

For the money, the most recent purchase was the best. Like you, I wanted 20
to 40 gigs of extra storage. When looking at the cost it was just more
economical to purchase the 80 gig. The Special Edition WD Caviar has an 8 MB
buffer and is much quieter and faster than the previous drives.
