I got a PCI card from OWC. An ACARD ATA 66. It says it will work in any mac with a PCI bus. OWC says it will work with OS-X.
(Machine: beige 266 rev-0-rom) Nada. Nuttin. System Profiler sees the card, id's it as a SCSI card. It doesn't see any hard drive I hang on it, in any configuration (master, slave, CS), on either of the connectors (IDE1 or IDE2). I bought another one from someone on the web to see if it might have just been a bad card. (Asked him before I bid, if it would work with OS-X ver. 10.1.3, he said he 'thought' it would, it's supposed to be OS-X compatible. Same result. Any suggestions? (Going to see if I can get a refund from OMB) Next question: How do I upgrade the ROM? And what will it do for me? Will I then be able to hang Master and Slave drives on each connector?
