I had an unused one in my MT/333 (now a 533 MHz MT), too, as the machine was equipped with an ATTO/Apple UW-SCSI card. But, it had only two connectors. The one with two connectors is for the basic EIDE hard drive (Bus 0); the one with three connectors is for the basic EIDE CD-ROM and for an optional EIDE Zip (Bus 1). >> One is hooked to the MOBO at J9 with the middle connector hooked to the CD with one end free. The other is laced right, (according to the pictures I have) and not hooked to anything, just tucked out of the way on both ends, leaving J10 on the MOBO empty. Which is the faster connector, J9 or J10? >> They are the same speed: 16.67 MB/sec. >> Also, is it possible to put 2 HDD's in a 5.25 bay? >> No, but it is possible to install four to five [ * ] hard drives in two 5.25" bays, by mounting the drives vertically. The coolest way to do this is to make a mounting plate which accommodates the drives, and then mount that plate on an existing (the bottom one is best) drive tray. The assembly will take up two adjacent bays, yet the (blank) bezels will still cover the whole mess. Data and power cables are, of course, an exercise left to the student, ;-))) [ * ] The available width is 5.91", so six of the new, super thin hard drives could be accommodated. A conventional hard drive is 1" high, thereby taking 1" in width, if mounted in the manner described. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
