Not all CD-ROMs/CD-RWs are PC bootable either! (trust me -- I've complained many a time about the cheap crap most no-name PCs manufacturers put in their PClones). > No. Not all of them. I would check out reports in the www.xlr8yourmac.com drive database. They have an *exhaustive* list of reports about SCSI/FireWire/USB/IDE CD-RWs, CD-ROMs, DVD-RWs, etc. and how compatible they are with a whole slew of computers. What I did when I bought my CD-RW is go into the store, ask them what CD-RW it was they were selling (a Sony 24/10/40), had the store clerk check out www.xlr8yourmac.com for me, and discovered (to my pleasure) that it was 100% compatible with my B&W G3 and booted beautifully (caveat -- it has to be the *exact* model b/c there were other very closely related models which caused people headaches). >> Also, I read somewhere that I should probably have at least .5 >> gigs of memory in the machine. IMNSHO 384 is the minimum but that's splitting hairs (256 is good enough for heavy web browsing and light office productivity but not much more). 0.5 GB is good unless you plan to run two or more of Photoshop/video editing/Virtual PC stuff ALL the time!!!
