The original discussion was about the ATI 7000 card, not the 8500. In my 
case (and repeatable, since others using the same software have had the 
same experience; the bug is very repeatable)

Something in the new OpenGL drivers in 10.2.3 conflicts with the old 
drivers in the ATI October 2002 *7000* Update. The ATI drivers in 10.2.3 
are, in fact, newer than those in the Oct 2002 update from ATI. *FOR THE 
7000* card. Drivers for other cards could well be different.

NOw whether you are affected by it or not would certainly seem to 
depends on the software you use. I know Strata 3DPro is indeed affected 
by it, as well as at least one or two other programs. IN noe of these 
cases were the problems total showstoppers, in my case it was an 
*extremely* annoying blankout of a window to white, followed by a slow 
redraw of that window, *any* time I clicked on an object in the window.

Re-applying the 10.2.3 upgrade fixed the problem.
