I am trying to help out a freind who is starting to burn DVDs. His setup is a dual 1 gig with 2 gig of ram and a Superdrive. Currently he is making the project in Final Cut Pro and burning with iDVD, if I understand things correctly. (please forgive my ignorance, I am on a beige G4, but a freind in need...)
A couple of questions for now: 1) He is getting one coaster out of every three or four DVDs he burns. Is this normal or should he try experimenting with other brands of media (recomendations?) or is their another answer? 2) He needs to make copies of his own DVDs. But with all he has, he doesn't have room on his HD to store them all. My thought is to buy an inexpensive DVD drive and put it into the other drive bay in his G4 and then use either iDVD (if it will do this) or buy a copy of Toast Titanium and use it to make copies. I am guessing that it works for DVDs the same as CDs. Since he is copying his own DVDs and he is not putting any copy protection on them, this should not be a problem, should it? I am sure that I will have more questions, but this is the start. Thanks for any help. Len -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
