That's bad and/or incompatible RAM, happens to my B&W G3 too when I have 
a specific 256MB DIMM from OWC installed together with other RAM and I 
try to boot from the Jaguar CD. Looks like it's going to boot, than 
halfway through it it crashes with white garbled lines through that gey 
screen.
The Jag CD boots fine if I yank all the other RAM; or if that DIMM is 
the only one installed the Jag CD boots fine.
FYI: all the DIMMs do work in OS 9 and OS X, so just put the RAM back in 
after you installed Jag.

Except that that 256MB DIMM I was talking about only works in slot 1 so 
OWC wants me to RMA that 256MB DIMM (CAS 2), but will cost me 'bout $25 
US for insurance and shipping; they say that I won't be charged for 
customs again, but if they do I could better buy another DIMM over here 
I guess...
