I have just reininstalled Jag on my beige after having freezing problems
(the whole system would lock up) with my first install.

Since I beleive Murphy was an optimist, I decided to download the .4 update
so that when I have to reinstall Jag again, I can at least update to .4
without having to go through the 6 hour download again.

The download went fine, but when I double click on the update package, the
Installer application opens, but with a blank window. I can open the
package in the file menu and open the package, but the installer just shows
the blank window with no options to install the update package.

Is the problem:

a) I doing something wrong

b) the update package is corrupted - The software update said that the
download was complete.

c) I just don't know enough about Jag yet and it doesn't work this way

d) something was corrupt on the Jag install.

My system is a Beige MT G4 533 768meg with an 80gHD on a Acard ATA 133 card
with Jag on the first partition which is 7.5g and a Radeon 7000.

On a somewhat related note, the video performance of this setup is almost
unusable. For example Play to Win casino, which ran fine on a 7100 with the
onboard video and a G3 240 is very choppy running under classic with no
extentions on. Also, when I use Thoth, a carbon newsreader, under 9.2.2,
images that I download display almost immediatly, but when I boot in Jag,
it takes 4-5 seconds minimum to display the same image. On ATIs site the
updater for the Radeon says that it will only work under 10.2.2 and
earlier. Is there a way to speed up the video? I have not installed the QE
hack yet, but I am not adverse to doing it.

Thanks,

Len
