I don't know if I can help or not. We have an iMac, a G3 and A G4 networked and all three get their internet from one connection (DSL now, but it used to be dial-in). I use Internet Gateway as the router (I think they've changed their name to Intergate.) Is this analogous to your situation? if so, I can offer more information on settings.
But I will say this - and I don't know if anyone else on the list has had this experience - but I discovered by trial and error that whenever the controlling Mac needs to be restarted, I need to reset whether DCHP is enabled, and it changes like a button - if it was enabled, the next time I disable it, and the next time I enable it.... If I don't do this, the other 2 Macs can't connect. And it doesn't matter which way it is set, the important thing is that it is the opposite of what it was the time before. I have tried at least twice to get Gateway techs explain why this would happen, but they say it doesn't. >I have a G3 (9.2.2) and an 8500 (9.1) that I would like to share the >cable internet connection. >I have them connected to a Netgear RP114 and they see each other. >When I hook up the cable modem (Toshiba PCX 1100), they fail to make a >connection to the net. >I know this setup works because I was sharing a cable connection (with >the same ISP) at the house I moved from. >I can only think that a setting is wrong but I haven't changed anything >since the computers were networked previously. > >Any suggestions appreciated. > >Eric in Phoenix NEXT TIME START YOUR SEARCH AT OUR WEB SITE AND SAVE 20% http://www.monroestreetbooks.com Monroe Street Books (Dick & Flanzy Chodkowski) 70 Monroe Street, Middlebury, Vermont 05753-1534 ph: 802-388-1622 fax 802-388-1608 -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
