Does anyone use their G3 with an iPod? I'd like to get one, and I'm not
clear on the hardware & software requirements. From what I gather from
apple's site, OSX is "required" with the newer (3rd gen) iPods. I have OS
9.1 and am currently trying to update it to 9.2.1 because I have heard
elsewhere that this is sufficient for use with at least some iPods. I don't
really want to put OSX on my computer. Any advantage on going on to 9.2.2
for the iPod?
Someone on another list told me there can be some difficulty using a
firewire PCI card w/ an iPod because it won't provide power to the iPod, but
that the difficulties are minor, mostly when updating the iPod software,
requiring plugging and unplugging. I updated my iTunes to version 2 at his
suggestion, for use w/ iPod.
If I succeed in this I will probably change to a larger hard drive next.
I appreciate any advice on this.
