Nils, I had one of those. Similar problem developed. Called local Mac Doc. He didn't repair monitors and said if you didn't know what you were doing you could get hurt. Also said this was a typical problem for these monitors - and there might have been a recall. Then I wasted a lot of time looking into that. Think I contacted Apple and yeah, it's a problem - so what did I want them to do about it?
Bought a Samsung SyncMaster 950b - thinks it's okay for the price - cheap. Good for our purposes. Bought another for a second machine.
