Without actually looking, and reading Steves reply to my email
it sounds like your monitor is falling ill like the one I have
and the ones he's worked on.

As for if it can be fixed, unless you are fearless and want to try
to fix your monitor, that's completely up to you.  As a suggestion,
you may want to contact your Apple dealer, or, if the unit is out 
of service, possibly contact a computer monitor repair shop and
explain whats happening, and see if they can perform repairs on 
your unit.
