(These are continuing responses to several lines of dialog concerning adding
a "Wings" A/V card to a Beige G3.)

To Mick Ring - One of my 2 Beige G3s came with the A/V "Wings" card.
The other I got on eBay as an upgrade. No problems with either.

To Dana Collins and "Raino" - You're correct. You need a video viewer
program of some kind, so if you intend to use Apple's Video Player, you'd
better start with the card already onboard. Through OS 8.5 or 8.6, the OS
installer should seek and recognize the presence of various A/V cards and put an
alias of the Player in the Apple Menu Items. Upgrading to 9, you lose support and
may or may not even get a copy in your "Apple Extras" folder. You may have
to fetch it from an older OS install CD. Either way, you have to do it
manually in 9 and install an alias in the Apple Menu Items folder or on your desktop
if you want it readily available. The Player was apparently intended only for
the PM 52/ 53/ 54/ 55/ 62/ 63/ 64/ 6500 series which all have a TV card o
ption, and it's crude by today's standards, but a neat toy.

To Richard Starr - I don't use the A/V card as a decoder. Rather, the
external player is the decoder, so it's simply another incoming video stream.
If one "Wings" version was superior, I'm not aware of it.

To Joel Wheeler - Apple dropped thier support of the Player at the 9.0
level (or earlier). The card works with or without it, but you have to
retrieve a copy from an older OS CD if you want their player. Other players might
work just as well (or better ?).
