Hello, I'm interested in replacing my 4 GB hard drive in my G3-MT, rev. 2
with something larger, maybe a 20 GB. I don't know anything about the
requirements needed, such as number of pins.
What is the best way to find what I'm looking for and to know it's right
when I see it?
Thanks

Wilton

Luckily, the G3 Beige and later models adopt the EIDE standard which the PCees use, so buying replacement drives is so much easier than say the old mac SCSI days. Having said that, don't look for the pins but ask them to sell you an EIDE or IDE drive. Do not buy a SATA drive, which has the same form factor as an IDE drive but uses a card edge connector instead of a 40pin connector. As far as ATA interface speed is concerned, do not pay more for an ATA 133 (133Mb/s theoretical tx rate) drive, since your G3 only has a slow ATA-33 interface (33Mb/s theoretical transfer rate) and is limited up to 127Gb on the main IDE bus.
