No. I know everyone's in love with AppleConspiracies, but the *only*
issue with 10.2.8 was the ethernet driver on some G4 models.

Obviously your experience isn't everyones:

From MacMusic:

10.2.8 WARNING!!!!!!
Our friends from Macbidouille (sorry in French) are emiting a warning against the 10.2.8 update for OSX for G3 and G4.
- Stuffit 8 seems to give a kernel panic
- Some Ethernet ports don't work
- Some preferences get corrupted
- Some OpenGL games can't be payed with
- Some computers don't want to restart
In short: stay clear of it for the present time!

From DSL Reports: All things Macintosh: 10.2.8 Update and some funny errors??

has anyone heard of any issues with 10.2.8 and firewire I/O, mainly capturing into FCP3? I had to start all over with a clean install again with the MDD dual 867 at school today becuase it absolutely trashed FCP. After a couple of installs of FCP we finally could capture, but the audio was way out of sync.

From On the Verge: OS 10.2.8 Problems

Like many other Mac users who downloaded the latest upgrade to 10.2.8, I am having my share of problems. The battery indicator reports less than two hours on a full charge, instead of the usual 3.5 to 4.

OS X 10.2.8 - warning

I won't be too melodramatic, but before any laptop users upgrade
to 10.2.8, be warned - battery life is drastically decreased for some
reason.
On my iBook 900 ... <clip> ... I'm only getting about
two hours ..<clip>... and it seems to be
getting worse.
Many people are having similar issues with iBooks and PowerBooks
alike, so this is not an isolated incident.

I have 4 computers within 5 feet of me, and the three I upgraded to 10.2.8 all have problems, the one I left at 10.2.6 is fine.

If the *only* issue is ethernet drivers, then why did my System fail to restart immediately after Software Update?
If the *only* issue is ethernet drivers, then why are my iBooks batteries so low?
If the *only* issue is ethernet drivers, then why did my .plist preferences all default?
If the *only* issue is ethernet drivers, then why do I see System freeze & black screen for the first time ever in OS X?
If the *only* issue is ethernet drivers, then why does Safari fail to load certain pages, to copy/paste certain forms, to block certain pop-ups correctly?

I know everyone's in love with AppleConspiracies,

When I see that VersionTracker rates 10.2.8 as 3.9 out of 5, I smell conspiracy. Read the comments (click Read All Comments). There are comment after comment about black screen, dead systems, low batteries, all these same problems in the lists above. None of these people have rating stars beside their names. People that are OK w/10.2.8 all give 5 stars and a guy who's ethernet is now half speed gives four? The majority of comments have some major problems, and yet they aren't counted toward the score at all. The average of 3.9 seems unsupportable if you read the comments, and see the lack of rating stars beside those who complain bitterly. Someone is cooking these books for sure.

As for me, I only know what I read, combined with my own experience. This tells me that Anastasia's strange monitor cut off and her browser problems are likely indeed the result of her immediately preceding 10.2.8 update, and is consistent with other's reports. I have no idea why Bruce has seen "nary a hiccup". Perhaps too much exposure to a pharmacological environment ;-).
