If I turn the power on the printer it runs up and cycles and a constant
green light comes on. Is that good?

Yes.

The LW Pro 630 is a "network" printer, although it can be attached to PCs
through serial or parallel connections.

The internal firmware will "batch" jobs from each exernal port, and will
print these one at a time.

For Mac applications, your choice of attachment is LocalTalk or Ethernet
(really, LocalTalk over Ethernet in the Pro 630).

It's either AppleTalk over LocalTalk or AppleTalk over Ethernet (EtherTalk). I don't know, this printer may accept jobs from all ports simultaneously, many do.
