Listers,
Among the many things I don't know beans about, printing
stands out above the crowd. I can make a deskjet type printer print out
documents (from time to time) but I've picked up a LaserWriter Pro 630 and
it looks like it is way above my grasp. It has several types of connectors,
for instance. Looks like a round serial, a PC serial, an AAUI ethernet
and a SCSI. I hooked it up via the round serial to a G3 and tried to use the
LaserWriter 300 driver in the chooser and that made it burp, but not print.
If I turn the power on the printer it runs up and cycles and a constant
green light comes on. Is that good? Etc. etc. etc.
The serial connection is for LocalTalk. LaserWriter 300 is a direct serial printer. You need to use the LaserWriter 8 driver for the Pro 630. You could connect it via Ethernet with a transceiver.
