Thanks Clark. The printer printed off the  Laserwriter 8 driver, via the
serial connection. The page is smudgy looking and has a repeated
blurstripesmuge about an inch and a quarter wide 7 and  1/2  times down the
page. Are the little  people  inside lazy, or is  something dirty, or is
something broken? I hope I didn't overwhelm  you with my technical jargon.
The printer has a name, and I don't know  how to get to the  thinking bits
to either re-name it or just to look around.
