I've never registered software with Roxio (or Adaptec), but I did register to download software when they started requiring it not long ago (last year?). These are separate issues and one doesn't accomplish the other. If you've never registered on the support page, they haven't deleted your ID, you just haven't gotten one, yet.

But, if your SCSI adapter isn't being recognized by the system, you're not going to get any software to work with your burners. The applicable kernel extension is

/System/Library/Extensions/Adaptec290X-2930.kext

Mine is dated 07/27/02, which is curiously more recent than the same file, same version (1.1.0) on my PB with 10.3.1. Make sure your card is seated properly and that you have the kext.

As for FireStarter FX, I believe it uses the built-in disk burning Framework and expands on it. Unless you have something that the software recognizes as a burner installed, it probably doesn't do much. It may never, though some SCSI burners do work on some versions of OS X.

I would love to but despite the fact that I've bought Toast 3,4, and 5, they keep deleting my registered user account and you can't get access to the updates without it.
