External Firewire Suggestions? I have a G3 300 MHz Beige with 512MB RAM and original 6GB HD and a PPC 9600 w/ G3 400 MHz with 2GB and 4GB HDDs. Each of these is currently using MacOS 9.1 for its system. Each computer has a PCI Firewire card.
I have a 7200 rpm Western Digital 80GB IDE UltraATA/100 Special Edition HD with 8MB Cache which I would like to add to a PPA Inc Firewire External case to use as a backup HDD for both. I would like to be able to partition the HD into several partitions including hopefully a partition with a Jaguar system capable of "booting" on the G3 300 MHz. I have read that Apple Drive Setup will not work on a Firewire drive. Has anyone had any experience using FWB Hard Disk Toolkit ver 4.5.1 to partition an external Firewire drive. Any suggestions? Does anyone know whether the less than 8GB rule for OS X system partitions applies to Firewire HDs and SCSI HDs? as it does for IDE HDs? Thank you for any assistance.
