USB 2 is not supported in 9.x, only in 10.2 and later if iirc. Apples USB 1.4.1 software only supports USB 1. Did you get a driver for USB 2 with the card? Is the usb portion OHCI spec compliant?

Have you tried plugging in a mouse or other usb1 device into the card?

Did you buy the card from a Mac vendor, or did you just get a generic card? I have a usb 2 card in my beige running 10.2.8 because the price was right, but I have only used USB1 devices (camera, mouse and a flash drive and they have all worked fine.

Answer these and we can see where the next step lies.

I have been testing Firewire/USB2.0 Combo PCI cards to use on a Beige G3
Minitower running 9.2.1. The first one (by Syba) did not work at all. In
the second one (by PPA Inc.), the Firewire portion of the card works fine,
but the USB side does not work, as evidenced by the fact that Toast cannot
see my combo external CD burner attached. All the USB extensions appear to
be loaded. Is there something I can try before I assume the card is
malfunctioning?

Thanks,
