Matt, I am very envious of the fact that you have a G5. Despite that I am still willing to provide some info :-) I don't know for sure if there are any architecture differences in the G5 PCI bus other than speed, but I have had great luck with Belkin PCI cards. They are usually a little bit higher in price, but their Mac support (drivers, updates, etc ) is very good. Also Sonnet and Adaptec are good Mac supporters. Bruce's suggestion about a powered bus is also an inexpensive solution. I have one that cost me $14.99 usd, I bought it from Comp USA, but it is now $19.99 . It is only usb 1.1, but a great product, take a look. http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=310749&pfp=SEA RCH It is a "mini" 4 port that can be plugged directly into the port ( you could use it on the front port, no boxes to clutter up that lovely G5 case ) or used with a connecting cable . Uses it's own power or bus power. To Bruce's point, try get a self powered hub if you can, so as not to overload the port on the board.
