You really need an adb keyboard with a Beige. It gets confused without it,
particularly since it looks for the start button. The problem is that the usb
bus doesn't become active in these older machines until well into the startup
sequence.
Yesterday I almost bought a USB PCI card for my G3/MT mainly to start using a spare
USB keyboard and a USB mouse.
You can use a usb keyboard and mouse, no problem. Just hide your adb keyboard,My generic (made in China) USB keyboard has a power button.
but keep it attached to the computer as a startup switch.
Will it work as a startup switch? Its owner's manual is long gone.
I know that USB PCI cards are cheap these days - especially the old standard version - I'll probably get one
anyway but what you pointed out here I found valuable.
