But the real question is- has anyone found a usb keyboard that is as
nice to use as any of the adb ones? I have used a number of usb
keyboards and they all feel like toys from the dollar store, not the
main piece of equipment that I interface with a $2499 ( when new)
piece of precision computing equipment like my Mac.

I know what you mean I also did not like the feel of the new usb keyboards/trackballs so I bought
the Griffin Imate USB to ADB converter, I now use my 1986 Apple extended keyboard and
Kensington Turbo mouse. You get the bonus of the Power button and if you are using OS X, pressing "F12"
for about a second or so can be used for ejecting the cd.
