I first hooked up my LW Pro 630 to a Quadra 800 via a 10MB Ethernet "LAN" in 1993. Why Ethernet? Because I could, both machines came equipped, and my PC buddies couldn't!
I bumped the LW RAM up to the max 32 MB, stuck in a 128 MB hard drive for fonts (rarely used, I admit) and now run it from a B&W G3 through a 10/100 MB hub/router--that gives me a hardware firewall for my cable modem. I'm only at about 67,000 copies printed, and the 600 dpi, true PostScript and, when I need them, PhotoGrade and FinePrint, give me crisp, sharp output everytime--and I can't remember when I last had a paper jam. Since the Canon engine is identical to the HP 4 series, I buy HP toner cartridges and the 98X extra capacity ones seem to me to be a good deal. (Note that OfficeDepot.com always has good coupon deals, like 20% off on purchases over $100 AND free shipping, so do shop around.) They have to be cheap now on the resale market, so if you can't make the LW IIf work to your satisfaction, consider a 630 Pro. Mine's not for sale!
