Oh well. There's still more "experiments" in reorganization and backing
up I can and should be doing. Thanks for the warning about what happened
to yours, keep me posted when your friend finds out what's going on and
I'm glad for you he was able to back up your data.

My suggestion, in both cases, is to Open Apple System Profiler in Mac OS a throw the ROM Revision code. That should be translatable to a Revision A, B or C ROM. I know some Beige G3 (DT/MT) ROMs have issues regarding IDE, the earliest one I think doesn't support Slave drives at all.
