I have a beige g3 / os9.2.2 / Xircom PCI 4port USB card. I got a Canon PowerShot A80 and discovered that the bundled sw is junk. I found iView Media to be a usable iPhoto replacement (given that I'm on os9) but I still need to use the camera's sw to get the photos onto my mac.
So I figured I'd get a card-reader... I picked up a no-name CF card-reader that plugs right into the usb port (no cable) on the swap-list for $5 (the seller said it worked for him w/ OSX)... I plugged in a CF card and plugged it into the usb port... the light on the reader came on but nothing happened... ASP doesn't recognize it... Now when I put the card back into the camera it gives me a "bad memory card" message and shuts down. When I put a different CF card into the camera it has no problem. Is there any chance that the card-reader messed up the card??? Is there any way to fix the card??? Now I'm reluctant to try a different card reader (the messed up card is 23MB and free, the other one is 256MB and expensive)... Any sage advice from the listers? -- Katzy Even w/ the sheer un-usability of the canon SW, I'm not sure there is much of a savings of time/energy w/ a card reader-- you still have to take the little card out of the camera, pop it into the reader, get the stuff off it, take it out of the reader, put it back into the camera... It doesn't look like it was designed for that kind of swapping back & forth... -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
