I wasn't getting on my legal high horse as such as I have "ripped" masses of ROMs in my emulation day. I used to have the alias "emul8" on all the boards with Jim Watters and the others, so I've been there done that...
Apple have little interest in nailing people ripping old ROMs, but no way would they ever endorse the use or licence them.
