i didn't think you were being too serious. and i agree, few companies will release old, abandoned stuff just because, well, they tend to be paranoid intellectual property pack rats. i do suspect that if you started making rom simms that were copies of 10 year old machines you wouldn't have any legal problems unless people started asking apple for support or something, which is one of the main reasons they cracked down on sites that had the "service" manuals, people were using them to tear their machine apart and then calling apple support and saying they'd done this and that as suggested in the service manual, what do i do next? when of course they should have realized they had no right to expect support from apple when they were doing things they weren't authorized to do. it's sad really, liability and paranoia probably paid a roll as well, but when you can get $2,000,000 for spilling hot coffee on your lap it's hard to say what paranoid is, there are a lot of morons on juries out there, and it's practically a requirement.
