I have a B&W G3 with a G4-500 Upgrade. The damn thing runs so nice it is hard putting out $3000.00 CND for a Dual 1.8 G5. This machine is "OLD" - I am not trolling, relax... K.
Work has forced me for 10 years to carry a Dell Laptop... Enough is Enough... For Christmas I want to purchase a 12" iBook G4 - NEW. I have had half a dozen laptops and I would never consider purchasing one used, Display, Battery, hinges, etc, etc, etc... With a couple of upgrades - Memory, WiFi Extreme, Blue Tooth and a larger HD it will do me fine. Microsoft Office, Safari and iTunes. I have an external FireWire DVD burner that I can easily hook up so I don't need a SUPERDRIVE. My question... What are the benefits of purchasing this Mac from; 1) A Mac dealer 2) Big Box Store (BestBuy, Future Shop, etc) 3) Mac Online 4) Campus Book Store My wife is a Student so I plan on using the Student Discount. With everybody now selling iPods how can companies be competitive. For instance most places advertise "We Will Beat Any Advertised Price" But Apple has a fixed price. Technically if Apple is selling the iBook for $1,500 CND then future shop should sell it to me for less? Odd isn't? Mac Dealer and Future Shop have to send the Mac away for service (most times I understand a few dealers repair in house). The Apple Online Store? How do I "bitch" about a problem to an operator. For $2,000 CND I want to shake someone's hand and walk out the door with the box under my arm. I don't want to wait 7 days beside the mail box. For that kind of service I turn to E-Bay. I am confused. If you wanted a new Mac with a few upgrades from the factory what would you do? Brian -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
