Okay, thanks. I don't think I need it then. I mean the only thing I do on
my computer which is that serious is writing, and AppleWorks (plus the
ClarisWorks I still use on my Powerbook) is the only requirement to do
that.

<Firewire is excellent technology for external devices (HD,s CD & DVD
players/burners, etc.). Useful technology for a lot of external
devices.>

Mmmmmm. Don't need to go here either, not yet anyway (maybe someday for a
CDRW to be able to burn backup CDs if I ever get tired of my Zip drive
and want something bigger). But I really appreciate knowing what the "big
deal" about Firewire is, that is, what it's good for other than video
work.

<The G3 is the designation of the actual CPU chip. The G3 first came out
at slow speeds MHz then remained in use up to speeds of 900 MHz.>

Thanks, this too was new to me. And I think my 233 must be the slowest
one too, huh? Figures. But still, after years of using my prior Mac
7200/120, I gotta say the G3, even though only a 233, still feels like
warp speed.

<The G3 was replaced by the G4, which was followed by the G5. It's the
same
in the wintel world, Pentium, Pentium II, Opteron, Celeron, etc., etc., >

Well, I don't know the wintel world at all, but this still helps me out
because now I know why they're called G3s, G4s and G5s.

Thanks again,

~Yersinia.
