thanks for the replies. ok, so it seems this installing from cd thing is gonna work. it would seem i need to create a boot floppy with cd support (thanks for the link brandon) and then burn a cd with the following on it:
1 - the 19 parts of the 7.5.3 decompressed in individual folders? 2 - stuffit (pre ppc version), disk first aid, drive setup and disc copy. 3 - the 7.5.5 update (also decompressed in individual folders?) the main thing is i don't currently have a mac with a cd burner attached running os9 - everything's in x! well, i'll give it a try and see how it goes. interestingly, apple seems to have no problem with offering copy's of 7.5.3 for download so what i may try and do is put together a cd image that others can download and burn - make sense? cool! thanks, jake p.s. i gotta say, i'm blown away - i've been a member of this list for around 4 years now but unable to post for the last two months 'cos of a problem with our smtp server which i've worked round now :-) but i got back, posted two messages today and you've all come up with blinding answers - i love it! -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
